MP News: Will employment courses change the future of students? Why are there preparations to implement shift system in colleges? What is the plan to open 100 new research centres? CM Mohan Yadav has prepared a big roadmap to link higher education with employment and technology.
Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, in the review meeting of the Higher Education Department on June 4, gave several important instructions to further strengthen the higher education system of the state. He said that in view of the increasing need in urban areas, new colleges should be opened. To improve the education system in areas where the number of students is high, it should also be considered to run colleges in morning and evening shifts.
The Chief Minister directed to start the process of formation of SAC (State Accreditation Council) at the state level on the lines of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). He said that to link higher education with employment, special attention should be given to employment-oriented and professional courses.
New programs will be prepared keeping in mind the youth year
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that considering the coming year as the youth year, new programs and projects should be prepared with the cooperation of various departments in the interest of the students. Praising the efforts to promote agricultural education, he said that more than 20 thousand students have joined agricultural graduate courses in the state. He congratulated the Higher Education Department for this achievement.
Special emphasis on improving the quality of higher education
In the meeting, the Chief Minister said that the quality of education should continuously improve in all the universities and colleges of the state. Smooth operation of academic and other activities should be ensured in all government colleges including PM Shri Mahavidyalayas. He also inquired about the progress of new courses. It was informed in the meeting that a three-year Aviation Management (BBA in Aviation) course has been started in Indore, Ujjain and Chitrakoot. Indian Knowledge Tradition Cells have been established in universities and colleges.
Achievements of Madhya Pradesh in research and higher education ranking
Information was given in the meeting that at present 384 research centers are operating in the state. Last year, 83 new research centers were established and in the coming time, 100 more new research centers will be started. Madhya Pradesh has performed better than the national average in Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER). While the country recorded a growth of 1.1 percent, the state has achieved a growth of 1.8 percent.
The institutions of the state have also performed better in the national level rankings. National Law Institute University has secured 27th rank and Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) Indore has secured 49th rank. Apart from this, three other institutions of the state have also been appreciated by NIRF.
Preparation to start new courses in Raja Shankar Shah University
The Chief Minister gave instructions to start new subjects as per the needs of the students in Raja Shankar Shah University located in Chhindwara. He said that subjects like food processing, architecture and agricultural science should be given priority. For this the state government will provide necessary financial assistance.
Madhya Pradesh tops in use of digital education and technology
It was told in the meeting that the Higher Education Department is rapidly promoting technology-based education. Madhya Pradesh stood first in the country with more than 3.52 lakh registrations on the Swayam portal in July 2025. More than 2.73 lakh students registered in the July 2026 session also. New universities have been started in Guna, Khargone and Sagar and law college in Agar Malwa in the state. Apart from this, PG classes in 28 subjects have been started in eight colleges.
Benefits of One Nation One Subscription and Digital Resources
618 higher educational institutions of the state have joined the One Nation One Subscription portal of the Government of India. More than 8 lakh students and researchers have used this portal. Madhya Pradesh has been leading in the country in this achievement also. Digital content is being made available to students through e-Gyan Setu channel. In this, along with Hindi, content is also being made available in regional languages like Bundeli, Bagheli and Malvi.
Special Initiative on Mental Health, AI and AVGC Lab
More than 5 thousand faculty and staff have been given training by the Higher Education Department to promote mental health. At the same time, 71 thousand 705 students have participated in morale sessions. Artificial Intelligence (AI) courses are being conducted in 68 colleges of the state in collaboration with IIT Delhi. Besides, AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics) labs are being established in eight colleges, through which students will get the benefit of new technical and creative education.
Major instructions of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav
- Priority should be given to employment oriented courses in colleges and universities.
- Part time and shift based colleges should be operated according to the number of students.
- If necessary, the buildings of Sandipani schools should be used for running the college.
- An effective system of career counseling should be made for 12th passed students.
- Necessary resources should be made available for food processing, agricultural science, architecture and other professional subjects.
