In this action, four key accused have been arrested and more than 5.5 kg of heroin and two sophisticated pistols have been recovered from near the international border. The operation was based on intelligence and led to the arrest of a gang responsible for procuring and distributing contraband dropped from across the border.

5.5 kg heroin recovered from the accused

Speaking to ANI, Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that the arrested persons used their homes near the international border to handle illegal logistics. CP Bhullar said, “We have arrested 4 accused and recovered more than 5.5 kg of heroin and 2 sophisticated pistols – 9mm Glock and Star-Made .304 pistol. The accused are residents of two villages in the border area of ​​Amritsar Rural. Their villages are right near the International Border. They used to deliver drugs at pre-planned places.”

The action was based on intelligence information

The Police Commissioner further revealed that the operation was completely based on intelligence network and the arrested persons have been identified as old criminals. The police commissioner further said, “It was an intelligence-based operation. We have arrested Akash Sandhu, Sunil Saroj, Harvinder alias Chamkaur and Vansh… all of them have criminal records.”

Police officials have indicated that further investigation is underway to ascertain the back and forth connections of the network, including the identification of their Pakistani handlers and local facilitators who received the consignments. (ANI)
