Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel made a big allegation against BJP-RSS and said that on one hand these people are stealing votes and on the other hand they are stealing donations. He has demanded a discussion in the House alleging that 40% commission is being taken in the construction of Ram temple.

Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [भारत]July 13 (ANI): Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel on Monday alleged that BJP and RSS are “stealing votes” on the one hand and “stealing public donations” on the other. His comment has come amid allegations of theft of public donations received in Ram temple.

BJP-RSS accused of theft of votes and donations

He told reporters here, “Our Leader of Opposition, Dr Charan Das Mahanta, moved an adjournment motion regarding theft of donations and offerings received for the Ayodhya Ram Tirtha area. You will remember the ‘Ramshila Pujan’ programs; BJP and RSS members visited villages across the country and collected crores of rupees. Till date, there is no accounting of that money. When the construction of Ram temple started after the Supreme Court order, people again donated. Lakhs of people of Chhattisgarh contributed crores of rupees; however, complaints have come forward regarding the construction work itself, especially the allegation that 40% commission was taken.

The Congress leader said that he had also contributed in the construction of Ram temple. “I was asked in the House whether I, Bhupesh Baghel, had also donated. I replied, yes, I had, and the amount was Rs 1,21,000. Like me, lakhs of people contributed to the construction… That is why we are demanding a discussion in the House. BJP, RSS and Vishwa Hindu Parishad are not sparing even Lord Ram, on one hand they are stealing votes and on the other hand they are stealing religious offerings. Bharatiya Janata Party and its people are doing this Are.”

Supreme Court issued notice

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Monday issued notices to the Centre, Uttar Pradesh government and Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust seeking their response on petitions seeking an independent, court-monitored probe into the alleged misuse of donations at the Ram Janmabhoomi temple.

A bench of Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohan also directed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Uttar Pradesh government to present a status report before it. The court has also sought information on the formation of SIT. (ANI)
