Bhanu Saptami 2026: In Sanatan Dharma only the Sun God can be seen in physical form. Sunday has been dedicated to Sun God. On this day, special worship of Sun God is done. The festival of Bhanu Saptami has also been dedicated to Sun God. According to mythological beliefs, Bhanu Saptami is considered to be the day when Sun God descended on earth with his chariot. Bhanu Saptami is being celebrated today. When Saptami Tithi falls on Sunday, then it is called Bhanu Saptami or Surya Saptami.
Adhikamaas is going on these days. Bhanu Saptami of Adhikamas is considered very special, because it comes once in three years. It is believed that by worshiping Sun God with devotion and rituals on this day, many sorrows of life are removed and special virtues are attained. According to the scriptures, sun worship done on the day of Bhanu Saptami gives great results. By observing fast on this day and worshiping Sun God, one attains happiness, prosperity and health in life.
Bhanu Saptami worship method
- On the day of Bhanu Saptami, wake up in Brahma Muhurta and take bath and wear clean clothes.
- After this, fill water in a copper pot and add red flowers, Akshat and Roli in it.
- Offer this water to the rising Sun and chant Surya mantras.
- During the puja, offer red flowers, jaggery, wheat and red clothes to the Sun God.
- Recite Aditya Hridaya Stotra or Surya Chalisa.
Importance of Bhanu Saptami of Adhikamas
According to Hindu belief, Lord Surya is the form of Narayan i.e. Lord Vishnu. That is why Lord Bhaskar is called Surya Narayan. Bhanu Saptami of Adhikamas is considered important because this month is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. On this auspicious occasion, worshiping the Sun with proper rituals brings happiness and good fortune. The virtuous results of Surya Puja on this day are equal to donations made on the day of solar eclipse.
