AAP Launches Massive Door-to-Door Campaign
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia on Friday announced that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will personally lead the party’s massive statewide door-to-door outreach campaign from his home constituency of Dhuri starting September 20. The door-to-door outreach campaign comes ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections and will serve as a report card for the administration. Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh, Sisodia said that AAP has built various teams and booth committees, including the youth wing, the women’s wing, and the SC wing, among others.
The campaign will be carried out by booth committees across 25,332 booths. He added that a cadre of 2.68 lakh booth committee members will fan out across the state, conducting house-to-house visits to highlight developmental work, welfare guarantees fulfilled, and administrative reforms. “2,68,553 workers, booth committee members, booth leaders, and booth committee members will take the achievements of the government to every household. Over the next month, every single booth committee member will visit households, speak with people, and discuss with them how, over the last four and a half years, because of the Punjab Government, Punjab has progressed, their families have benefited, and their personal lives have improved,” he said.
Report Card on Mann Administration’s Performance
Sisodia asserted that the Mann administration has delivered on all its key poll guarantees within 4.5 years, securing deep public trust across urban and rural belts. “Every single guarantee has been fulfilled, and as a result, an average household in Punjab is now seeing an annual financial benefit of Rs 1,82,000, which comes to over Rs 15,000 every month,” he said. He also noted that the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is set to release the election campaign pamphlet in Ludhiana on Saturday.
Speaking to the reporters after the press conference, Sisodia stated that over its nearly 4.5-year tenure, the Mann administration has delivered on and exceeded its 2022 poll promises across core sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture, trade, youth employment, and sports. “In four years, the Bhagwant Mann government has accomplished far more than the promises it made to the people of Punjab before the elections. Punjab is moving forward; the state has progressed with great sincerity across all sectors—schools, hospitals, agriculture, trade, employment for the youth, and sports. Driven by this politics of honesty, I am announcing today that the government has fulfilled the tasks it set out to do and continues to work diligently,” he said.
AAP Slams BJP’s Anti-Drug March
He launched a direct attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party over its proposed anti-drug march in the state, questioning the party’s moral authority to lead such an initiative. “With what moral standing is the BJP organising a march against drugs? The very BJP that plunged Punjab into a drug crisis during its tenure from 2007 to 2017, with what face is it now organising a march that insults Punjabis?” he asked.
The AAP leader added, “This is the same BJP whose own states are the source of 80 per cent of the drugs sold in Punjab; a supply chain exists. With what moral authority are they launching this march?” (ANI)
