In Hyderabad, a man cut the tongue of his 50-year-old live-in partner with a knife during a fight. The victim is admitted in the hospital and the accused is absconding. The police have registered a case of attempt to murder and started searching for him.
National Desk: A 50-year-old woman was brutally attacked by her live-in partner in Kushaiguda area of Hyderabad. It is alleged that during a violent fight, the man cut his partner’s tongue with a knife. This incident happened at his home itself. According to Kushaiguda SI Satish Kumar, the victim woman’s name is Sujata and she works as a daily wage labourer. Her husband died about a decade ago, after which she was living alone. Both his son and daughter are married and live separately.
Police said that about six months ago Sujata had met a man named Naveen. Gradually their acquaintance turned into a relationship and reportedly both were living together in the same house with mutual consent for the last six months. However, in recent weeks there was tension between the two regarding personal matters. In the early hours of Saturday, a heated argument broke out between Naveen and Sujata inside their house.
Naveen allegedly lost his temper during the fight. He picked up the vegetable cutting knife kept in the house and cut Sujata’s tongue. The woman screamed in pain and fell down drenched in blood, while the accused fled from the spot immediately after the attack.
Hearing Sujatha’s screams for help, neighbors and locals ran towards the house and found her seriously injured. He was immediately admitted to Gandhi Hospital for emergency treatment. Doctors in the hospital saved his life by performing emergency surgery. Hospital officials said that the victim is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU and his condition is continuously improving.
Following the incident, the victim’s daughter Ammulu lodged a written complaint at the Kushaiguda police station. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case against Naveen under sections related to attempt to murder and causing grievous hurt. Kushaiguda SI Satish Kumar said that a special police team has been formed to nab the accused, who is still absconding. The search operation is going on to nab him.
