What is Rupa Dutta’s Colaba theft case?

The case stems from a complaint filed by Marine Drive resident Dimple Singhvi, who alleged that her purse was stolen on July 12, 2026, while she was travelling through crowded areas between Babulnath Temple and Colaba.

The complaint stated that the purse contained a diamond-studded gold bracelet worth around Rs 1.20 lakh, Rs 10,000 in cash, Apple AirPods valued at approximately Rs 15,000, a wallet and personal documents, taking the total value of the reported loss to around Rs 1.48 lakh. Following the complaint, Colaba Police launched an investigation and examined CCTV footage from the area. Police allegedly found footage showing Rupa Dutta following Singhvi shortly before the reported theft. Based on the investigation, Dutta was subsequently arrested in connection with the case.

Meanwhile, Rupa Dutta has worked in both Hindi and Bengali films and television. Her credits include the 2005 film Saathi and the Hindi television serial Jai Maa Vaishno Devi.
