In the latest rape and murder case in West Bengal’s Baruipur, South Parganas has taken a dramatic turn as the SIT nabbed the accused and also killed in an encounter.
The probe started with an ultrasonic speed that in just 3 days the accused man was killed.
However this is not just it, the parents of the accused has also refused to take the body of their son. Speaking with the media the mother of the accused said that she will not take the body as he dies doing a sin and they do not have problem with his encounter.
To the new readers of this case, it involves a 11 year old girl who was brutally raped and killed in West Bengal’s Baruipur that sparked strong public anger.
What Happened in the Case
According to the police report, the 11 year old girl left home on Sunday around 4 pm to buy a gift for her friend’s birthday but she did not return home and after searching a day after her body was found in a pond. Investigators believe she was abducted, raped, killed, and then thrown into the water.
Accused Killed During Police Action
The key accused – Prabhas Mondol is reportedly killed in a police encounter earlier in the day. Police claimed that they took him to the crime scene to reconstruct the crime scene but there he allegedly grabbed an officer’s service weapon and fired at the police before trying to run away. Hence in exchange of fire he was injured and later died in the hospital.
Mother Says She Will Not Take the Body
The mother of the accused- Prabhas, when informed about his death, she said she would not go to the hospital and would not take his body home. She said her husband was ill and that she had no intention of collecting the body. She also said her son had done wrong and deserved punishment. The mother reportedly said she had no strength to go to the hospital and did not want to see her son’s body. She also said he had not listened to the family, had become a drug addict, and had brought shame through his actions. Her words showed complete rejection of his crime and of any support for him after death.
Police Investigation Continues
Police have arrested three people so far in connection with the case. A six-member Special Investigation Team has also been formed to look into every detail of the crime and the events that followed. Officials say the investigation is still going on and more facts may come out in the coming days.
