Bengal will begin their Ranji Trophy 2026-27 campaign against Delhi with a strong squad featuring a mix of experienced campaigners and promising young players, with Abhimanyu Easwaran named captain for the opening fixture.
The match is scheduled to begin on October 11 at Kalyani, with Bengal looking to make a positive start to their Elite Group campaign. Easwaran will lead the batting unit, while Sudip Kumar Gharami has been named vice-captain.
The squad has considerable experience in the bowling department, with India pacers Mohammed Shami and Akash Deep included for the season opener. Mukesh Kumar is another experienced fast-bowling option, while Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal and Pradipta Pramanik add further depth to the attack.
Wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel is also part of the squad, alongside Shakir Habib Gandhi, giving Bengal multiple options behind the stumps.
The Bengal squad also includes Sumit Mohanta, while Aditya Purohit and Rahul Prasad add to the team’s overall depth. Bengal have also named a sizeable standby group, with Karan Lal, Akhilesh Yadav and other names in the squad.
The presence of Shami and Akash Deep will be a major boost for Bengal as they begin their red-ball campaign. Both pacers bring international experience and could play an important role in giving the side an edge with the new ball.
Delhi, meanwhile, will be led by Ayush Badoni, with Yash Dhull as vice-captain. Their squad also features experienced pacers Navdeep Saini and Simarjeet Singh.
With two competitive sides set to face each other in Kalyani, Bengal will hope their blend of experience and youth can deliver a winning start to the new Ranji Trophy season.
