Bihar CM Samrat Chaudhary met former CM Nitish Kumar before the monsoon session of the Assembly. Both discussed political issues. In the session starting from July 20, the opposition is preparing to corner the government regarding the Bharat Bhushan Tiwari encounter case.

Patna (Bihar) [भारत]July 5 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Sunday met his predecessor ahead of the monsoon session of the Assembly and discussed contemporary political issues.

Samrat Chaudhary posted on X, “Today had a cordial meeting with the honorable former Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar ji.”

According to a statement from the Bihar BJP unit, “During this cordial meeting, various contemporary issues were discussed. His experience and guidance have always been a source of inspiration.”

The meeting comes ahead of the first full Bihar Assembly session starting on July 20 since Nitish Kumar resigned from the top post last April. Chaudhary faced the floor test in the Assembly in a one-day session on April 24, while Nitish Kumar was sworn in as a Rajya Sabha MP in the same month.

Monsoon session agenda

As per the schedule of the monsoon session, on July 20, certified copies of the ordinances promulgated by the Governor during the period when the Bihar Legislature was not in session will be laid on the Table of the House.

The First Supplementary Statement of Expenditure for the financial year 2026-2027 will be presented before the House on July 20.

The government will present the bill on July 21 and 22. The Appropriation Bill regarding the First Supplementary Expenditure Statement for the financial year 2026-2027 will be debated and voted on on July 23. 24th July has been dedicated to the business of private members.

Opposition will surround government on encounter

The opposition is expected to corner the NDA government regarding the police encounter of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari. The incident has drawn controversy after a Facebook Live video, recorded shortly before the shooting, showed Tiwari throwing his pistol towards policemen.

Following complaints from Tiwari’s family, Bihar Police has registered an FIR against Jagdishpur DSP, Shahpur SHO and other police personnel in connection with the encounter. The matter is under investigation. (ANI)
