Bihar cadre IAS Amrit Lal Meena is originally a resident of Dabra village of Sapotra tehsil of Karauli district of Rajasthan. He did his primary education in Dabra village itself. He studied from class one to class eight in Government High School Dabra from 1971 to 1979. After completing class eight, he studied ninth, tenth and 11th in Government Secondary School Gangapur city. He studied in science stream.

Meena has done engineering

After completing school and college studies, Amrit Lal Meena took admission in Malaviya Regional Engineering College in 1982. Where he completed his studies of electronic engineering from 1982 to 1987. In 1988 itself, he gave the civil services exam, in which he was successful. However, after this he again gave the civil services exam in 1989 and became an IAS. After getting Bihar cadre, he served in Bihar for about 15 years. After this he went on central deputation in the central government. Meena first became the DM of Siwan district in Bihar. After this he was also the DM of Nalanda, Bhojpur, Gaya and Muzaffarpur.

Amrit Lal Meena believes that Bihar is a very suitable place for public service. He thinks that after being in the post of DM, one gets a chance to do such work every day which gives satisfaction. Amrit Lal Meena has special emphasis on education and health system. In 2003, when he was the DM of Muzaffarpur, this district also received the Satyen Mitra National Literacy Award.

Only a person who lives in Bihar can understand Bihar

Amrit Lal Meena believes that the things that are said about Bihar are not true in reality. Only those who live in Bihar can feel this. Bihar is a very suitable place for administrative service. Amrit Lal Meena is known among the officers who perform their duties in a better way and work with dedication.

Soft-spoken Amrit Lal Meena gives the credit of his success to his teacher Badri Prasad Sharma. He believes that whatever he is today is because of his parents’ inspiration, discipline, and way of living. Along with this, his teacher Badri Prasad Sharma’s guidance is also the reason why he has reached here today.

Aunt’s son encouraged

Amrit Lal Meena’s thinking was that he should also get a government job. With this objective, he completed his ninth, tenth and 11th exams. He got good marks in 11th. Admission in engineering college was based on the 11th board marks. After this, he got enrolled in engineering. During engineering, when he was in the second year, a new branch of electronics came up. After this, he completed his engineering in electronics. Some senior students of his college were preparing for civil services. Amrit Lal Meena’s cousin was also preparing for civil services. When Meena was in the final year of engineering, his cousin encouraged him to take the civil services exam. For the first time, he gave the exam without preparation. In which he was successful in the prelims but did not get success further. After this, he prepared again and got success. His subjects in the civil services exam were electrical engineering and physics.

is still concerned with the village

Amrit Lal Meena’s father was a farmer and mother was a housewife. He got married in the final year of engineering. Meena got married in Katkhar village of his home district. He has also constructed a building in his village school in memory of his father for Rs 13 lakh. Even today, he visits his village in Rajasthan twice a year and meets his relatives. He has two children. His son has done MBA and runs his own business while his daughter has done MBBS.

Have worked in many departments

When he came to Bihar in 2012 after central deputation, he was made the secretary of the Labor Resources Department. After this, he became the secretary in the Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Agriculture Department. Apart from this, he was also the secretary of the Urban Development Department, Cooperative, Mines Department. Meena has also served as ACS in the Building Construction Department and Road Construction Department. When Jitan Ram Manjhi was the CM of Bihar, Amrit Lal Meena was his Principal Secretary. Apart from this, he has also been the personal secretary of former Union Minister late Raghuvansh Prasad Singh.

According to information, one of Meena’s acquaintances was kidnapped in Bihar, about which he got the information. After this, when the acquaintance contacted him, Amrit Lal Meena talked to senior officials and also got the kidnapped children safely returned with the help of Bihar Police.
