Faridabad: A very heart-wrenching case has come to light in Faridabad, Haryana. Here a 26-year-old man has been accused of brutally murdering his six-month pregnant wife. The family members of the deceased told on Sunday that after a domestic dispute, the husband first beat his wife and then dunked her head repeatedly in a bucket filled with water, due to which she died.
Wife is from Bihar and husband is from UP
This incident took place in Panchsheel Colony Part-2 of Palla Police Station area. The accused has been identified as Amit Gupta, who is currently absconding and the police is searching for him. The name of the deceased woman was Neha Kumari. She was a resident of Muzaffarpur district of Bihar. She was married to Amit Gupta, a resident of Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh, on 30 April 2025 this year. After marriage, both were living in a rented house in Panchsheel Colony.
If strangulation did not result in death then drowning in water
According to Neha’s family, there was a fight between the two on some minor issue on Wednesday morning, after which Amit attacked Neha. The family alleges that he first tried to strangulate Neha with a chunni and then took her life by immersing her head in a bucket of water.
Griha Pravesh puja was done a few days ago.
- Neha’s brother-in-law told that he had arranged a house on rent for the couple and only a month ago the Griha Pravesh puja was performed here.
- She also alleged that Amit used to fight with Neha on small issues and was demanding dowry. He told that 6 months pregnant Neha was very happy about her unborn child.
Called uncle and said – I killed my wife
- According to family members, after the murder, Amit called his uncle living in Alipur village near Badarpur border. He told on the phone that he had killed his wife and now you all should decide what to do next. After this he ran away from home.
- The family told that they had been calling Neha several times since morning, but when she did not pick up the phone, they later got to know about her murder. When they reached home, Neha was lying dead.
- A police spokesperson said they received information about the incident from relatives of the deceased.
What will the police do now?
- On this incident, police spokesperson Yashpal Singh told ANI, “As soon as the information was received, the police team immediately reached the spot. The body has been taken into custody and sent to the civil hospital mortuary for postmortem. Crime branch and forensic teams were also called to the spot and evidence has been collected.”
- Singh informed that an FIR will be registered on the basis of the complaint of the relatives of the deceased, after which further legal action will be taken.
- He further said, “From the initial investigation, it appears that the husband has committed the murder. We are investigating all aspects of the case. Continuous raids are being conducted to arrest the absconding accused. The relatives of the deceased have been informed and after their arrival, further action will be taken by registering an FIR on their complaint.”The officer also said that a search operation is being conducted to arrest the absconding accused. Further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
