Barabanki: Give 20 thousand otherwise we will do encounter…, village head met SP and gave this complaint

Once again a case of illegal extortion by the police has come to light from Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh. Despite the strict action being taken by the Superintendent of Police, the policemen are not desisting from illegal extortion. A village head has complained to the police regarding illegal extortion. Pradhan alleged that two policemen had talked about an encounter if the recovery money was not paid. Following the complaint, action has been taken against two policemen.

The matter has come to light from Somaiya outpost of Nagar Kotwali area. The police have been accused of illegal extortion. The village head of Gram Panchayat Dhakoli of Somaiya Chowki area has given an application to the Superintendent of Police and the City Kotwal demanding action against the accused policemen. The village head alleged that constables Rohit Saroj and Rajkumar posted at the post had taken Dharamraj of the gram panchayat to the post. Dharamraj was accused of having a dispute with a person from the village.

The village head told in the complaint that when Dharamraj’s brother Ganesh reached the police post to plead, he was also made to sit there. They started demanding twenty thousand rupees to release both the people. The village head told that when he advocated in this matter, the policemen got angry.

Policemen angry at lobbying

Village head Anjai Mishra has complained about this matter to the Superintendent of Police office and city Kotwal Alok Mani Tripathi. He alleged that Dharamraj, son of Shivkumar of his gram panchayat, had a dispute with a person named Shambhu over some issue. On Shambhu’s complaint, constables Rohit, Saroj and Rajkumar of Somaiya outpost came and took Dharamraj to the outpost.

According to the village head, he called constable Rohit Saroj to advocate for the two brothers and asked them to release them after taking appropriate action. Pradhan told that both are very poor. The village head alleged that both the constables got enraged when I called. Threatened both those brothers that they would encounter you and your chief Anjai Mishra. After this both the brothers were beaten and challaned. After being released, when the two brothers went to get their motorcycle, the constables took four thousand rupees from them.

Demand for action against policemen

According to the village head, the soldiers of Somaiya outpost have committed a lot of loot in the area. Every day policemen extort money by harassing people for some issue or the other. Pradhan has given a complaint letter demanding action against both the constables.

In this case, City Kotwal Alok Mani Tripathi said that Village Praghan Anjai Mishra is not able to provide any certified evidence regarding the allegations being made. If the truth comes out in the allegations against the constables, then strict action will be taken against both of them. Till the investigation, both the constables have been removed from the post and posted at the police station.
