Banks are going to remain closed on these dates

Banks across India will remain closed for several days in June due to national, regional and religious holidays. Those customers who are planning to visit the branches of SBI, HDFC Bank and other banks, should check the holiday schedule in advance. Banking operations in government and private sector branches will remain closed on the days mentioned in the RBI holiday calendar. Although some bank holidays are exclusive to certain states or regions, bank branches remain closed throughout the country on gazetted national holidays. Even during holidays, customers can use digital banking services, but will not be able to do banking transactions directly by visiting branches.

Banks will remain closed on these dates in June

In the RBI holidays calendar, some days are marked as non-working days for banks under the “Negotiable Instruments Act”, and some under the “Closure of Banks Accounts”. Here is the full list of holidays in June 2026:

  • June 15: Banks will remain closed in Aizawl to commemorate the establishment of Young Mizo Association (YMA). On the same day, banks will remain closed in Bhubaneswar also on the occasion of Raja Sankranti.
  • June 25: Banks will remain closed in Vijayawada on the occasion of Muharram.
  • June 26: On the occasion of Muharram, banking operations will remain closed in Agartala, Aizawl, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi and Srinagar.
  • June 29: Banks will remain closed in Shimla to celebrate Sant Guru Kabir Jayanti.
  • June 30: Banks will remain closed in Aizawl to observe the regional public holiday named ‘Remna Ni’.

Saturday and Sunday holidays

As per the guidelines set by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), all scheduled and non-scheduled banks are compulsorily closed on every second and fourth Saturday, as well as every Sunday of the month. This means that these days customers will not be able to avail the services available by visiting the bank branch. There are a total of four Sundays this month, so banks will remain closed on 7, 14, 21 and 28 June. Apart from Sunday, banks will also remain closed on June 13 (second Saturday) and June 27 (fourth Saturday).

Online banking will remain operational during holidays

During bank holidays, online banking services are available across the country. Customers can use these services for convenient financial transactions. Anyone can use UPI or the app of the respective bank to make payments and receive money from others. These services work round the clock, whether the banks are open or not. However, sometimes, these services may be discontinued due to scheduled maintenance, about which the Bank will inform you in advance. Additionally, fund transfer requests can be made using NEFT/RTGS transfer form, demand draft request form and check book form. Apart from these options, credit cards, debit cards and ATM cards can also be obtained through card services. Services like filling account maintenance forms, setting standing instructions and applying for lockers are also available.
