Dakshinamukh Nandi Tirtha Kalyani Temple
Bangalore’s Mysterious Nandi Temple: There are innumerable temples in the country filled with mysterious and architectural wonders. One such temple is located in Malleshwaram area of Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka. There is ‘Dakshinamukh Nandi Tirtha Kalyani Temple’ here. This temple is said to be about 400 years old and is famous for its unique structure. Usually, Nandi is installed in front of the sanctum sanctorum, where Lord Shiva sits, but the structure here is completely different. This is the main attraction of this temple.
The most important feature of this temple is that Nandi has been installed on a platform just above the sanctum sanctorum, where the Shivalinga is situated. The interesting thing is that a stream of water keeps flowing continuously from the mouth of Nandi. The water coming out of the mouth of Nandi falls directly on the Shivling situated below. This creates a wonderful scene of Lord Nandi continuously anointing Lord Shiva with his mouth. This stream then flows into the sacred Teppakulam (Kalyani) of the temple and joins it.
Unsolved mysteries and incurable diseases
Even in today’s modern technology era, the source of water coming out of Nandi’s mouth remains a mystery to science. Despite studies being done on the source of this water that flows continuously throughout the year, its actual source still remains a mystery. There is a deep belief that this water has rare medicinal properties and the devotees who drink it get relief from incurable diseases and physical sufferings. For this reason, along with local people, foreign devotees also come here in large numbers.
