Taskin Ahmed has been left out of Bangladesh’s squad for their second Test against South Africa. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) made the announcement on Thursday, October 24. In Taskin’s place, the Tigers have roped in Khaled Ahmed, who played the Kanpur Test against India and was also a part of the Test series on Pakistani soil.
It has been learnt that Bangladesh want to give Taskin enough rest before their assignments against Afghanistan and the West Indies. at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
“Taskin is our all-format cricketer and will be flying away from home for 50 days as we have ODIs against Afghanistan followed by a full-fledged series against West Indies,” a member of the selection panel told Cricbuzz.
“We want to have him fresh ahead of the long tour and so decided to rest him while Khaled is included so that if we need him, we can use him considering our two pacers, Nahid Rana and Hasan Mahmud, are fit and ready to go,” the selector added.
The second Test is scheduled to get underway on Saturday, October 26 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. Bangladesh are yet to beat the Proteas in a Test match.
