Baba Baidyanath Dham.
Deoghar News: There is big and important news for the devotees visiting the famous Baba Baidyanath Temple (Baidyanath Dham), one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Bholenath, located in the holy city of Deoghar, Jharkhand. The administration has taken a historic step to strengthen the security of the temple, religious faith and crowd management. Now the use of mobile phones by devotees has been completely banned inside the sanctum sanctorum of Baba Temple.
Along with this, the proposal to establish outdoor Arghya in the temple premises not only during Sawan but throughout the year has also been unanimously approved. This decision has been approved after the consent of the priests and officials of Panda Dharmarakshini Sabha in a high level review meeting held at Deoghar Collectorate. There are two main reasons behind the ban on mobile.
worship was disrupted
Due to lack of ban on mobile phones inside the sanctum sanctorum, many devotees started taking photos and making videos/reels instead of worshiping Baba Baidyanath. Due to this, the time of other devotees standing in the queue was wasted and the entire system of the sanctum sanctorum was affected.
security angle
Being a world famous temple, the security of Baba Baidyanath Dham is of paramount importance for the administration. This strict decision has been taken in view of the security threat posed by the release of sensitive videos and photos of the sanctum sanctorum.
‘Bahya Arghya’ will be organized throughout the year for the convenience of devotees.
Another major change has been made to facilitate the religious system of Baba Mandir and to give every devotee the opportunity to perform Jalaran easily. Till now, mainly during the month of Sawan, due to excessive crowd, external Arghya (a vessel for offering water from outside, which goes directly to the Jyotirlinga through a pipe) was used in the temple premises. But now in view of the increasing number of devotees, it has been agreed to keep it installed throughout the year. A new footover bridge will also be constructed in the temple premises for easy and safe water offering to the devotees.
Government Shravani Fair 2026: Brainstorming on crowd management and VIP puja
In the month of Sawan, lakhs of Kanwariyas from India and abroad reach Baba Dham with Ganga water from Sultanganj. In view of this, a review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate (DC) Saurabh Kumar Bhuvaniya. In this meeting, the police administration and the priestly society together prepared strategies on many important points. To ensure that common devotees do not face any problem during the fair, strict rules will be fixed regarding ‘Sheeghra Darshanam’ (paid coupon system) and VIP puja.
There will be no stampede at stations
DC Saurabh Kumar Bhuvaniya has directed railway and district administration officials to work with mutual coordination. Additional security forces will be deployed at all the major railway stations in and around Deoghar, so that no untoward situation like stampede is created. Every activity from the temple premises to the fair area and railway stations will be closely monitored round the clock through CCTV cameras.
The number of ticket counters will increase
For the convenience of passengers traveling to and from Deoghar, the number of ticket counters at railway stations will be increased so that the time spent in queues can be reduced. It is clear from the decisions taken in this general meeting that the administration is gearing up to make this time’s Shravani Mela completely hi-tech, safe and accessible, so that no Shiva devotee coming to Baba Dham has to face any inconvenience.
