Why is Jafar Express the target again and again?

Jafar Express has faced attacks several times in the past. This train connects Balochistan with major cities of Pakistan and passes through sensitive areas. According to security experts, this is why this train has been the target of extremist activities for a long time.

Increasing crisis of instability in Balochistan

Balochistan has long been a hotbed of separatist and extremist activities. Many organizations operating in the region, prominent among them the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), have been accused by the government of being involved in terrorist activities. What is Balochistan Liberation Army?

Although no organization has yet claimed responsibility for this attack, the suspicion of the investigating agencies is deepening on ‘Balochistan Liberation Army’ (BLA). Jafar Express is the main train connecting Balochistan to other major cities of Pakistan, which passes through highly sensitive areas. BLA has huge dominance on these routes. It is noteworthy that last year also BLA had hijacked Jafar Express, in which it was revealed that 214 passengers were taken hostage and 30 Pakistani soldiers were brutally killed. This organization, active since the 1970s, is continuously waging a bloody war against Pakistani occupation and Chinese interference in the natural resources of Balochistan.

New center of terrorism: What is Pakistan’s number in the global index?

This latest attack exposes Pakistan’s security claims. According to the shocking data of the recently released ‘Global Terrorism Index 2025’, Pakistan has now become the second most terrorism affected country in the world after Burkina Faso. According to the report, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces alone account for 90% of the total terrorist incidents in Pakistan. In the last one year, there has been an alarming increase of 60% in the attacks by Baloch Army (BLA) and more than 90% in the attacks by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which has put the entire country on the receiving end.
