Bakrid 2026: The festival of Eid-ul-Azha i.e. Bakrid is considered very sacred and important in the religion of Islam. This festival is celebrated every year on the 10th of the month of Zul-Hijja. On this day, Muslims all over the world offer namaz, donate to the poor and sacrifice goat, sheep, buffalo, bull or camel. Sacrifice is an important tradition of this festival. This tradition reflects faith, sacrifice and dedication. Bakrid will be celebrated tomorrow in India.

The tradition of sacrifice on this day is said to be related to Hazrat Ibrahim Alaihissalam. This festival is a sacred opportunity to show your true faith and dedication towards Allah. Sacrifice on this day gives the message of humanity and equality. The ritual of sacrifice is not considered complete just by sacrificing the animal, but it is very important to distribute the portion of the sacrificed meat as per the rules. The sacrificial meat is divided into three parts.

Why is meat divided into three parts?

There is a tradition among Muslims of dividing the sacrificial meat into three equal parts. Usually the sacrificer keeps a portion. One part is taken out for relatives, friends and neighbors and another part is distributed among the poor and needy. However, if there is no one to take it, you can keep all the meat with yourself. At the same time, if someone does not want to keep the meat with himself, he can also distribute the whole meat. The main purpose of distributing meat on sacrifice is that those who have not been able to make sacrifice can also get the meat of sacrifice. Its message is to help the poor and give them happiness.

Rules of sacrifice on Bakrid

A certain age is required for every animal’s sacrifice. The sacrificial goat or goat should be at least one year old. Whereas the age of sheep or dumba should be at least 6 months. The age of buffalo or bull should be at least two years. The camel should be at least 5 years old. Sacrifice of an animal is considered correct in Islam only after completion of age.

tradition of sacrifice

According to the beliefs of Islam, to test the faith of Hazrat Ibrahim, Allah asked for the sacrifice of his most precious thing i.e. his only son Hazrat Ismail. Hazrat Ibrahim had full faith in his Allah. Therefore he agreed to sacrifice his son. After this, as soon as he started sacrificing, on the orders of Allah, the angels placed a dumba (lamb) there. In this way Hazrat Ismail was saved. From then onwards the tradition of sacrifice started.
