Shah Rukh Khan starrer cult thriller Baazigar which along with Darr was instrumental in turning the then-young actor into the recently completed 31 years of its release.
Directed by Abbas-Mustan, the film also starring Kajol, Siddharth Ray, Dalip Tahil and Johny Lever marked the debut of Shilpa Shetty.
Upon its release, Baazigar was the fourth highest grossing film of 1993 trailing behind biggest grosser Aankhen, Khal Nayak and Darr.

Now, 31 years later, its producer Ratan Jain of Venus Movies has teased a sequel.
In an interview with ETimes, Ratan Jain admitted that he keeps discussing the sequel plans with Shah Rukh Khan and assured that it will move forward only if the superstar is interested in returning, which he currently is.
He also talked about the exciting idea behind Baazigar 2 but stated that it needs a “compelling script and fresh direction” for the sequel to stand tall next to its iconic prequel.
He further said, “We keep talking to Shah Rukh about Baazigar 2 but not much has happened but it will definitely be made.”
Baazigar is not the only Abbas-Mustan thriller getting a sequel, another one of their cult films Aitraaz recently completed 20 years of its release and its producer Subhash Ghai too announced a part two.

A rip-off of Michael Douglas and Demi Moore’s 1994 thriller Disclosure, Aitraaz starred Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Annu Kapoor, Paresh Rawal and Amrish Puri in the lead roles.
It released alongside Shah Rukh Khan’s Veer-Zaara in 2004and became the 10th highest grosser of the year.
On the film’s 20th anniversary, Subhash Ghai posted on Instagram, “BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL PRIYANKA CHOPRA DARED N DID IT. That’s why cine lovers can not forget her performance even after 20 years today in #AITRAAZ – produced my Mukta arts. When she was too apprehensive to do this role of an ardent ambitious woman but did it with full confidence. Now MUKTA ARTS is ready for AITRAAZ 2 with a finest script with 3 years of hard work.
