Communist Party of India (CPI) national general secretary D Raja has demanded a high-level judicial inquiry into the alleged embezzlement of donations to the Ayodhya Ram temple. He alleged that the involvement of eight people was “just the tip of the iceberg (just the beginning of the case).”
Raja raised the question of who should be held accountable for the alleged misuse of devotees’ donations. He said the truth must come out and there is widespread anger over the issue. Raja told ANI, “Embezzlement of donations given by the devotees of Lord Ram and who can be held accountable for it… Only eight people were involved in such a huge loot? This is just the beginning. People should know the truth; that is why our party has been demanding a high-level judicial inquiry from the very beginning. There is anger across the country. This is not a small thing.”
Congress targeted BJP
Following these allegations, on June 14, the state government, on the request of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir Trust, constituted a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the alleged scam related to offerings at the Ram temple. Congress leader Rajendra Pal Gautam reacted to lawyers in Ayodhya refusing to represent the accused in the alleged Ram temple donation embezzlement case. He claimed that the decision reflects widespread public anger over the issue.
Gautam alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has broken the public trust and said that people across the country will hold the party accountable. He said, “I believe this is indicative of only one thing: it is not just the legal fraternity, but the entire country is angry and has realized the true nature of the BJP. They don’t just steal funds; they steal people’s trust, poach MLAs and MPs from other parties, and even hijack entire political parties. They have become a threat to the Constitution and democracy of the country.”
“People of all castes and religions across the country will hold him accountable; there is no way to avoid it now,” Gautam told ANI. A first information report (FIR) was filed on June 25 in connection with the alleged embezzlement of donations received at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. (ANI)
