Guwahati (Assam) [भारत]July 5 (ANI): As the Assam Assembly session begins from Monday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday announced that the state government will introduce several major laws. These include a bill to amend tourism laws, land revenue rules and to establish the Guwahati Satellite City Development Authority.
Addressing a press conference after the state cabinet meeting here, Sarma said, “The Assam Assembly session will begin from tomorrow, and several new bills will be introduced in the assembly.”
Many new bills will be introduced in Assam Assembly
He said the government will introduce the Assam Tourism and Development Registration Act, 2024 (Amendment) to streamline the registration process for hotels and homestays. “The Assam Tourism and Development Registration Act, 2024 (Amendment) will be introduced in the Assembly, and through it, registration of hotels and homestays will be done. We will repeal the Sarai Act, 1867,” Sarma said.
The Chief Minister also announced that the government will introduce a major amendment to the Assam Land Revenue Regulation Act. “We will introduce a powerful amendment bill to the Assam Land Revenue Regulation Bill, Chapter 12, in the Assembly,” he said.
In cabinet decisions, the government approved the Guwahati Satellite City Development Authority Bill, 2026, under which the chief minister will serve as the chairman of the authority. “The Assam Cabinet has approved the Guwahati Satellite City Development Authority Bill, 2026, and the chief minister will be the chairman of this authority,” Sarma said.
Other important decisions of the cabinet
The Cabinet approved Rs 97.90 crore for modernization of 112 emergency response service of Assam Police, amended the Assam Minor Mineral Concession Rules, 2030, and allotted 33 bigha of land to Amul to set up a milk processing unit at Biswanath Chariyali. Sarma said, “Today, the Assam Cabinet has approved Rs 97.90 crore for the modernization of 112 services of Assam Police. The Assam Cabinet has today amended the Assam Minor Mineral Concession Rules, 2030. The Assam Cabinet has allotted 33 bighas of land to Amul to set up a milk processing unit in Biswanath Chariyali.” (ANI)
