Ashok Kharat Viral Video Case Updates: After her name surfaced in the Ashok Kharat sexual harassment case, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former chairperson of Maharashtra State Women’s Commission Rupali Chakankar has finally broken her silence. Rupali has termed all the allegations related to self-styled Baba Ashok Kharat as completely false and defamatory. In a statement issued on Tuesday, he said that till now no concrete evidence has emerged against him.
Questions raised on media and accusers
Rupali Chakankar said that false and irresponsible allegations are being made against her and her family for the last 28 days. He says that the purpose of these allegations is only to tarnish his image. He also raised questions on the role of media and said that it is wrong to escalate such issues without investigation.
Questions raised on anonymous letter
Chakankar has also raised questions about the anonymous letter, which is being said to be the basis of this entire matter. He said that it should be clear who wrote this letter and how it reached the accusers. Showing it in the media without verification shows malicious intent.
Police officer’s statement also came out
Quoting Navneet Kanwat (SP of Beed), Rupali Chakankar said that anonymous letters without name and address are not legally valid and cannot be taken seriously. Chakankar clearly said that neither he nor his family has any direct or indirect connection in this matter, be it financial, land or any other alleged wrongdoing. He expressed confidence that after the completion of the investigation, the truth will come out and he will get justice.
Had to resign amidst controversy
During this entire controversy, Chakankar had to resign from the post of Chairman of Maharashtra State Women Commission last month. This step was taken when some of her videos surfaced, in which she was allegedly seen washing the feet of Ashok Kharat.
Investigative agencies also focus on the family
As part of the investigation, the police have also interrogated Chakankar’s sister. The agencies are trying to find out whether his sister’s bank account was used by Ashok Kharat for any suspicious transactions.
Investigation going on against Ashok Kharat
At present Ashok Kharat is in police custody and investigation is going on against him for serious cases like sexual harassment and fraud. Besides, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is also investigating this case from the money laundering angle and has raided many locations related to it.
