After this, marriage, housewarming and other auspicious functions are not performed for four months. Fasting and worship of Lord Vishnu on this day is considered to have special significance.
Gupt Navratri also falls in this month
Gupt Navratri is also celebrated in the month of Ashadha. This special festival lasting nine days is dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga.
