It is becoming difficult to breathe due to air pollution in the national capital Delhi. Even after implementing Grape-4, pollution has not been controlled. AQI is continuously increasing. Due to the poisonous atmosphere of Delhi, people’s health is in danger. Meanwhile, Delhi Government’s Environment Minister Gopal Rai has written a letter to the Union Environment Minister regarding artificial rainfall.
Gopal Rai said that there is air pollution in the entire North India for the last 3 days. It is becoming difficult for people to breathe. Grape-4 rules have been imposed. To prevent vehicular pollution, we imposed a ban on both private and commercial vehicles. Now the time has come to make artificial rain in Delhi to break the blanket of smog and make people free from pollution.
He has said that today I am writing a letter to the Union Environment Minister to hold an emergency meeting with the concerned departments for artificial rain. Last year, time was less, but this time we had made preparations in August itself to make artificial rain if needed. For approval and meeting, I wrote the first letter on 30th August, the second letter on 10th October, then again on 23rd October, but no reply was received.
PM Modi should intervene- Gopal Rai
Minister Gopal Rai said that after a long request in October, an online meeting was held with the Union Agriculture and Environment Minister. Today Delhi is going through a medical emergency. This smog can only be broken by strong wind or rain. Today, the BJP government is sitting in such a central government in India that despite continuously writing letters and appealing, the minister does not have time to call a meeting. Getting approval is a later matter. If such an appeal had been made to any foreign minister, he too would have held a meeting.
Appealing to PM Modi, he said that Prime Minister should intervene in this matter, either hold a meeting or provide a solution to this problem. If there is no solution then a meeting should be held for artificial rain.
What did Gopal Rai say on work from home?
Gopal Rai said that we are working continuously. Earlier, for vehicular pollution, BS3 petrol and BS4 diesel vehicles were banned. Office timings changed. Schools have been closed, we are doing whatever is in our hands. We are working on whatever suggestions are coming. These sources can reduce pollution, but cannot remove the smog blanket. For that either strong wind should blow or it should rain.
Will the odd-even rule apply?
He said that we are seeing the impact of the ban on vehicles. If the smog breaks today, pollution will come down. Because of that there is more pollution. In response to the question whether a proposal for even-odds and work from home will be sent to LG, the Delhi Minister said that we will make every possible effort, but right now our priority is to break the smog. It will break due to strong wind or rain.
What did Gopal Rai say on DTC buses strike in Delhi?
Gopal Rai said that I request everyone to work together. Talks are being held with them, but people are appealed to leave their homes only when necessary. Reduce use of personal vehicles. There is still plenty of space in the metro.
