Malpe Beach
Malpe is one of the famous tourist places in Udupi. Golden sands, pleasant weather, amazing local food and beach walks are the main attractions of Malpe. This beach is located at a distance of 66 km from Mangalore and 6 km from Udupi. Malpe Beach Basic is a natural harbour, which is very useful for the Mogaveera fishermen settled here. There are four rocky islands on this coast of Karnataka. The northernmost island is Dariya-Bahadurgarh, the middle is Dariya-Gadra-Kallu, while the southernmost island is Kari-Illada-Kallu. The fourth rocky island is St. Mary’s Island.
St. Mary’s Island
Of the four rocky islands of Malpe Beach, St. Mary’s is the most popular. This island is also known as Coconut Island. Due to its special design and texture of rocks, it is very popular among tourists.
Kaup Beach
Located between Mangalore and Udupi city, Kaup Beach is a very old and unique beach. Because of this its beauty remains intact even today. Sitting here peacefully for some time gives a different kind of peace. There is a lighthouse built in 1901, which is open to tourists daily from 5:30 to 6:30 am. The view of the ocean from the top of the lighthouse is spectacular. There are also many hotels and guesthouses around the beach.
