Apple made iPhones worth Rs 84,000 crore in India, Ashwini Vaishnav said – a record has been made

Due to the PLI scheme of the Government of India, Apple’s production in the current financial year 2024-25 has touched the figure of 10 billion dollars i.e. about Rs 84,000 crore. The Union Minister said in his post that this figure is 37 percent more than the previous financial year 24. He said that iPhones worth $7 billion out of $10 billion have been exported in the last 7 months. He has described this record as a milestone. This means that about 70 percent of the goods produced were exported, while iPhones worth $3 billion were sold in the domestic market. October 2024 was a historic month for Apple in India, with iPhone production crossing $2 billion in a month for the first time.

175,000 jobs found in 4 years- Ashwini Vaishnav

The Union Minister said that in the last 4 years, about 175,000 people have got jobs in Apple and the interesting thing is that 73 percent of them are women.

PIL Scheme

The PLI scheme was implemented in FY21 as most of the beneficiaries, except Samsung, were not able to meet the target in the first year itself. After this the scheme was extended for six years. The scheme ends in FY26 for every firm except Samsung, for which FY25 is the last year.

Exports increased in seven months

According to industry data, Apple has exported iPhones worth about $7 billion from India in the last 7 months. In the period from April to October, the company exported phones worth about Rs 8,450 crore (about $1 billion) every month. In the July-September period, the company has earned the highest ever in India.
