Apple likely to launch MacBook Air with M4 chip next year

Apple is expected to launch multiple devices globally next week and make a series of announcements related to new hardware starting October 28. These could include the M4 chipset-powered iMac, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini.

Apple debuted its latest Silicon chipset, dubbed M4, in the summer with the new generation iPad Pro models.

However, Apple doesn’t seem to stop with the M4-chipset-powered devices. The Cupertino-based tech giant is also working on an updated MacBook Air with the company’s current generation M4 chip. According to a new report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, upcoming MacBook Air models with the M4 chip are expected to arrive between January and March 2025.

Moreover, Apple is reportedly planning to update the Mac Studio lineup with the M4 chipset between March and June. This device will be codenamed J575. Apple is also expected to refresh the iPhone SE, iPad Air, and its entry-level iPad next year. The company may also introduce a keyboard, which is specially designed for MacBook Air.

Gurman also reports that the rollout of advanced Apple intelligence features on supported ecosystem devices will be Apple’s focus in 2025. The M4 chipset will also come with the Neural Engine, a critical component for AI processing, and it would be essential for the upcoming Apple Intelligence platform.
