In a rather surprising move, Apple has confirmed that new Macs are coming next week. There were rumours about an Apple event but that’s not happening as no invites were sent out.
Instead, Greg Joswiak, senior vice president, marketing, Apple put out a post on social media platform confirming a number of Macs are imminent. “Mac () your calendars! We have an exciting week of announcements ahead, starting on Monday morning. Stay tuned…”, Joswiak said in the post.
As Joswiak mentioned “announcements”, we can expect a bunch of Macs being launched throughout the week via press releases.
MacBook Pro models
Apple is expected to unveil new MacBook Pro models. As many as three MacBook Pro models may be unveiled and all will be powered by the M4 series of chips. There’s a base 14-inch MacBook Pro which is expected to be powered by the M4 chip. Also expected are 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models powered by the M4 Pro and M4 Max processors. Not much is expected to change in terms of design of the MacBook Pro models.
New Mac mini
A report by Bloomberg suggests that Apple is planning to make a significant design change to the Mac mini. The size of the Mac mini is expected to be reduced even more and be more on the lines of Apple TV 4K. The Mac mini is also expected to be powered by the new M4 processors.
iMac refresh
The 24-inch iMac is also expected to get an upgrade with the M4 processor. Apple is likely to bring USB-C support to all the iMac accessories – Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Trackpad. These three accessories are perhaps the only devices in Apple’s line up that still run the lightning port.
