CISF conducted an anti-hijacking mock drill at Rajkot Airport to test the preparedness of various agencies in case of aircraft hijacking. The objective of this exercise was to strengthen operational preparedness and improve coordination between agencies.
Rajkot (Gujarat) [भारत]July 8 (ANI): The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) conducted the annual Anti-Hijacking Mock Exercise (AHME) at Rajkot Airport on Wednesday. The aim was to assess the preparedness and response capabilities of various agencies in dealing with a simulated situation like an aircraft hijacking, a release said.
The exercise was presided over by Chaitanya Mandlik, Additional Commissioner of Police, Rajkot. It was attended by senior officers and personnel from CISF, Airports Authority of India (AAI), district administration, Intelligence Bureau, airlines, aviation stakeholders and other agencies.
According to CISF, these mock drills strengthen operational preparedness, enhance coordination among various agencies, and strengthen preparedness to meet emerging challenges of aviation security.
Mock drill was also held at Chennai airport
Earlier in June, an Anti-Hijacking Mock Exercise (AHME) was also successfully conducted at Chennai International Airport. Its objective was to evaluate and strengthen the operational preparedness and emergency response capabilities of multiple security and civil aviation agencies.
According to a statement issued earlier by CISF, this high-profile security drill was conducted under the supervision of J Anne Mary Swarnaa, Joint Home Secretary, Government of Tamil Nadu and in the presence of DIG/CASO, R Ponni as well as senior officials from other stakeholder departments.
This extensive exercise simulated a highly realistic aircraft capture scenario, using a passenger bus to accurately recreate complex operational situations at ground level.
It further said that such joint military-civilian exercises play an important role in strengthening protocols against hijacking threats, sharpening immediate operational response capabilities and ensuring that all security mechanisms can work together to address emerging global aviation security challenges.
