Veteran actor Annu Kapoor has completed 44 years in the film industry. Expressing his gratitude for this journey, he remembered his brother Ranjit Kapoor and many stalwarts of the industry. He will soon be seen in the comedy film ‘Uttar Da Puttar’.
Veteran actor Annu Kapoor has achieved a big milestone in the film industry, he has completed 44 years in the industry. Speaking to ANI, Annu Kapoor recalled his journey and expressed his gratitude while talking about his humble beginnings.
Kapoor said, “It’s been 44 years. I was born in Bhopal, studied in Delhi and now work in Mumbai. I am very grateful to everyone who loved me, accepted me as an artist and made me capable of building and running a house. I have spent the last 44 years with great pride. I am equally grateful to the film industry for giving me the opportunity.”
The actor credits his elder brother Ranjit Kapoor, who guided him to move to Mumbai and supported him in his early years. He said, “My elder brother, Ranjit Kapoor, brought me here. I got his message from Delhi. When I came here, I did a play with the late Om Puri. I am very grateful to my brother.”
Expressed gratitude to these people
Annu Kapoor expressed his gratitude towards those who made a special contribution to his career. He said, “I would like to express my gratitude to late filmmakers Shyam Benegal and Mrinal Sen, Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, late Yash Chopra and many others. I miss them a lot today.”
Annu Kapoor also made a special mention of actor Amitabh Bachchan and further called the actor’s wife and politician Jaya Bachchan as his elder sister. He said, “I wish Amitabh Bachchan a long and healthy life. Jaya Bachchan, whom I consider my elder sister, trusted me and made me a director and producer. If they are listening to this programme, it is a sign of gratitude.”
On his deep affection for late Yash Chopra and his wife, late Pamela Chopra, Kapoor further said, “Yashji and Pamji gave me a lot of love, especially when I was nothing. Today, I miss them a lot. I got a chance to spend a good four years with them while working on ‘Meri Awaaz Suno’. We were close at that time and we had a good show together.”

Even after more than four decades, Kapoor continues to embrace new opportunities. Talking about the work front, he will be next seen in the upcoming comedy film ‘Uttar Da Puttar’. The makers have officially released the poster of the film.
The newly released poster features Annu Kapoor in the center of the frame, sitting on a toilet mounted on top of a giant Vaastu-inspired wheel. This unique scene points to the film’s quirky storytelling and its witty take on themes like destiny, faith and finding the ‘right direction’.
Directed by Ravinder Siwach and based on a story by producer Sandeep Kapoor, ‘Uttar Da Puttar’ revolves around an unusual story related to Vaastu and is based on the idea that finding the ‘right direction’ in life can improve one’s fortunes. Apart from Annu Kapoor, the film also stars Rukhsar Rehman, Brijendra Kala, Pawan Malhotra, Ishtiaq Khan, Jiveshu Ahluwalia, Rajendra Sethi, Sumit Gulati and Nitin Arora.
