Amitabh Bachchan Slams Media Over ‘Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki’ Misinterpretation

Mumbai: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has strongly criticized certain media outlets for allegedly misinterpreting his devotional chant, “Hathi Ghoda Palki, Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki,” portraying it as a challenge to his opponents.

This incident follows a recent social media post where he expressed displeasure over a report that twisted his religious invocation into a confrontational message.

Bachchan, in a detailed post, highlighted that the chant is a prayer dedicated to Lord Krishna and its distortion for sensational headlines is a grave disrespect to religious sentiments. He directly quoted how media allegedly twisted his words, stating, “The media, by disrespecting it, prints it for their own publicity, ‘Look, Amitabh is challenging his opponents, saying, ‘Bring your elephants and horses’—we will fight with our weapons, we won’t be afraid!’ On one hand, it’s a grave insult to a ‘Jai Shri Krishna’ invocation, and on the other, they’re twisting the words to make it about challenging opponents.”

He further questioned the media’s responsibility, referring to the press as the fourth pillar of democracy and expressing concern over what he described as unethical conduct. Bachchan also referenced his substantial 50-million-strong follower base, hinting at their potential collective response if such misinterpretations continue. He emphasized that while individuals apologize for mistakes, the media often appears to lack such accountability. The actor concluded by stating that his personal pain from such coverage is his alone and not for public consumption or media exploitation.
