Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has shared a heartfelt reflection on his relationship with his son and actor Abhishek Bachchan, saying that differences in thoughts and perspectives do not change the common destination they share.
In a post on his blog, Amitabh wrote a Hindi verse reflecting on the father-son bond: “Pita putra dono rahe, ek manch par baithai; vichar alag alag ho chaahe, manzil ke hi aithe.” He followed it with an English reflection on his respect for the younger generation.
“Respect for the next generation ever… but the destination is ever the same,” Amitabh wrote, adding that their relationship has always involved seeking, discovering and understanding while working towards a common and beneficial goal.
He also emphasised the values of love and respect, while acknowledging the affection and goodwill of their well-wishers.
Amitabh is currently hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati, the Hindi adaptation of the international quiz-show format Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?. The programme features contestants answering multiple-choice questions and using lifelines when they need assistance.
On the film front, Amitabh was last seen in Vettaiyan, directed by T.J. Gnanavel. He is also associated with filmmaker Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD sequel, which stars Prabhas and Kamal Haasan.
Abhishek, meanwhile, was recently seen in Raja Shivaji, directed by Riteish Deshmukh. The historical film is based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, founder of the Maratha Empire.
The film features Riteish Deshmukh in the titular role alongside Genelia D’Souza, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Vidya Balan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi and Amole Gupte.
