Amidst the elections, the Central Government has got continuous success on the GST front. GST collection has broken all records in the first month of the financial year itself. According to the data, GST collection has crossed Rs 2 lakh crore for the first time in the month of April. There has been an increase of more than 12 percent in comparison to the same period last year. Whereas in the month of April itself last year, GST collection had crossed Rs 1.87 lakh crore. After that, this record could not be broken in any month. Let us also tell you how much money has been received under which item in GST at present.
Record made in GST collection
In the month of April, amidst the Lok Sabha elections, GST collection has crossed Rs 2 lakh crore for the first time and has crossed Rs 2.10 lakh crore. Before today, GST collection has never reached Rs 2 lakh crore. There has been an increase of 12.4 percent year-on-year in GST collection. After refunds, the net GST revenue figure for April 2024 is Rs 1.92 lakh crore, which is 17.1 per cent higher than the same period last year.
How much money came for which item?
Central GST collection in April was Rs 43,846 crore and state GST collection was Rs 53,538 crore. Integrated GST stood at Rs 99,623 crore, which included collection on imported goods of Rs 37,826 crore. Cess collection stood at Rs 13,260 crore, which included collection on imported goods of Rs 1,008 crore.
How was the collection last year?
In the last financial year, the GST collection for 10 out of 12 months was more than Rs 1.60 lakh crore. This includes Rs 1.57 lakh crore in the two months of May and Rs 1.59 lakh crore in the month of August. GST collection in the month of December was Rs 1.78 lakh crore. Which is the third largest collection at present. Whereas last year in the month of April itself, an increase of more than Rs 1.87 lakh crore was seen. According to experts, we may see further increase in GST collection.
Highest increase in this state
According to the information received from PIB, there has been an increase of more than 52 percent in GST collection in Mizoram. While last year the GST collection in Mizoram was Rs 71 crore, this year it has been seen at Rs 108 crore. If we talk about Lakshadweep, then Rs 1 crore has been seen in GST collection. Whereas in the same period last year, Rs 3 crore was seen. The total GST collection from the states in the month of April was Rs 1,71,433 crore. Whereas in the month of April last year this figure was seen at Rs 1,51,162 crore. This means that an increase of 13 percent has been seen in the month of April this year.
