Ambani gets treasury, will supply crude oil from this country instead of Russia

America has issued a general license to India’s Reliance Industries to directly purchase Venezuelan crude oil. According to the information, under this license the company will now be able to import oil from Venezuela without violating US sanctions. This decision has come at a time when Washington has indicated to relax some restrictions imposed on Venezuela’s energy sector.

Venezuela will become an alternative to Russian oil

Experts say that this step is strategically important for Reliance. Venezuelan heavy crude oil is usually available at a discount, which reduces refining costs. In such a situation, the company can look for a cheaper alternative to supplies from Russia. It is being told that earlier this month, Reliance had also purchased 2 million barrels of Venezuelan oil from Trader Vitol.

Strengthening India-US energy relations

US President Donald Trump had recently removed the additional 25 percent tariff imposed on India and had said that India will buy more oil from America. In such a situation, this license can further strengthen India-America energy cooperation. It is believed that Indian refiners are currently staying away from purchasing Russian oil for April delivery, which may also strengthen a possible trade agreement between the two countries.

Venezuelan exports will also get support

This decision may accelerate Venezuela’s oil exports. Reliance operates the world’s largest refining complex and its two refineries have a total capacity of about 1.4 million barrels per day. Earlier also the company used to buy oil from Venezuela regularly, but due to US sanctions in 2025 the purchase had to be stopped. Now with the new license, it will be easier for Reliance to get cheaper crude oil, which can help it in reducing costs and increasing profits.
