India’s Olympic bronze medalist and under-23 Asian champion Aman Sahravat won the gold medal in the men’s 57 kg freestyle category at the Budapest Ranking Series 2026 with a stellar performance.
In the final of the Polyak Imre, Varga Janos, and Kozma Istvan Memorial Senior Ranking Tournament (Budapest Ranking Series), Aman defeated Georgia’s Roberti Dingashvili with a technical superiority score of 13-3 in a completely one-sided match. The 22-year-old Aman Sahravat once again proved that he is among the world’s emerging best wrestlers. Previously, he became India’s youngest individual medalist at the Paris Olympics and was also the first Indian wrestler to win a gold medal at the under-23 World Wrestling Championship.
Another medal for India came in the 61 kg freestyle category, where Deepak secured a bronze medal. In the third-place match, Deepak defeated Azerbaijan’s Nuraddin Novruzov in a thrilling contest with a score of 9-8. India is also hopeful of two more bronze medals in the 65 kg freestyle category, where Kumar Mohit will face Kazakhstan’s Nachin Kular in the bronze medal match, while Vishal Kaliraman will compete against Kazakhstan’s Ossumzhan Dastanbek for the third-place match.
The women’s wrestlers will also showcase their skills starting Thursday, with competitions in the men’s 79, 92, 97, and 125 kg categories. On the same day, the campaign of Indian women wrestlers will begin, featuring competitions in the 50 and 55 kg categories. Indian medal winners: Gold Medal (57 kg freestyle): Aman Sahravat (defeated Georgia’s Roberti Dingashvili 13-3); Bronze Medal (61 kg freestyle): Deepak (defeated Azerbaijan’s Nuraddin Novruzov 9-8).
