bradford [यूके]July 17 (ANI): Jammu Kashmir National Independence Alliance (JKNIA) President Mahmood Kashmiri, during a protest outside the Pakistani Consulate in Bradford, has accused Pakistan of violence and repression against civilians in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).

Addressing the protesters, Mahmood Kashmiri alleged that Pakistani security forces in the region were responsible for killings, arbitrary detentions and use of force against residents. He claimed that the people of PoJK, along with Pakistani supporters protesting against the action, had gathered to condemn the repression being carried out by the state. The JKNIA president criticized Pakistan’s political system, saying the country has failed to maintain democratic principles.

Accused of reneging on agreement and intensifying repression

Referring to an alleged agreement signed with the Jammu Kashmir Joint People’s Action Committee (JKJAAC) in 2025, he accused Pakistani authorities of reneging on their commitments and instead intensifying the repression campaign against the movement. Mahmood Kashmiri alleged that security forces have killed civilians, detained thousands of people and refused to return the bodies of those killed during the unrest. He further claimed that the Pakistani military has targeted children and occupied villages, calling these actions a serious violation of human rights.

He also challenged Pakistani officials to publicly defend their position and urged them to participate in a live televised debate over claims that the government has met the demands agreed with the protesters. According to him, the authorities are resorting to misinformation while suppressing dissent in the region.

PoJK government accused of collusion

The JKNIA leader accused the government of PoJK of favoring Pakistan instead of representing the interests of the residents of PoJK. He alleged that the administration has enabled security forces to take action against the population and vowed that Kashmiris will continue their campaign for their rights without surrender. Mahmood Kashmiri further alleged that internet services have been shut down in parts of PoJK, making it difficult to confirm the number of casualties or detainees. (ANI)
