Alpha dropped its much-awaited trailer on June 17, leaving trends soaring. The latest from the YRF Spy Universe is its first female-led actioner starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari.
The movie, also starring Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor, is making a lot of noise weeks before release, both for good and not so good reasons. Fans are curious about Spyverse merging the worlds of Tiger, Pathaan, War and now Alpha. However, the trailer also received mixed reactions after a section noted the similarities between scenes from the film and moments from popular international franchises like The Boys and Game of Thrones.
Shiv Rawail-directed is one of the most ambitious projects in the YRF Spy Universe. The film is slated to premiere in theatres on July 3. After days of releasing its first look teaser whcih received polarised reactions, the official trailer has also become a talk of the town.

Alpha trailer introduces new spy origin story of Sita
The new trailer offers a more detailed look at the story teased in the film’s first promotional materials. It follows Alia Bhatt’s character, who goes through a gruelling training regime with a mysterious mentor (Bobby Deol). The footage features intense combat scenes, covert operations and high-stakes confrontations, making the film a major entry in the expanding spy franchise.
Anil Kapoor and Sharvari are also glimpsed in the trailer, but the biggest surprise is Hrithik Roshan, who appears to be reprising his role as Kabir from War. His presence further cements the connections between Alpha and the greater YRF Spy Universe.

Viewers see similarities to The Boys
One of the most talked about moments in the trailer shows Bobby Deol’s character keeping a watch on a young girl, Sita, who is inside a secured enclosure. Some social media users immediately likened the sequence to scenes from The Boys that detailed the childhood and origins of Homelander, played by Antony Starr.
The resemblance has sparked online debate, with some viewers calling it a copy and others wondering if the inspiration was just a little too obvious.

Game of Thrones references
Another sequence raised eyebrows for its apparent echo of one of Game of Thrones most indelible moments. In the scene, Alia Bhatt’s character takes a mid-air assault on the character of Bobby Deol, only to be caught by the neck in the air.
Fans compared the moment to Arya Stark’s famous showdown with the Night King in the fantasy series. Social media conversations rapidly filled up with side-by-side comparisons, with some viewers claiming the visual staging felt familiar.

Alpha teaser charged with similar claims
When the teaser was released earlier, online viewers pointed out some similarities between certain visuals and the French action classic La Femme Nikita. Other viewers also noticed similarities to scenes from American Sniper, leading to discussions about the movie’s influences before the trailer had even dropped.
Whether the comparisons ultimately do more good or more harm to the film remains to be seen. So far, Alpha has managed to become one of the most talked-about upcoming releases of the year.
