CM Dhami gave strict instructions
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [भारत]July 19 (ANI): In view of heavy rains in various parts of Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday directed Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan and Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman to keep a close watch on the situation.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office, wherever there are incidents of heavy rain, landslides or blocking of roads, the administration should take immediate action. He directed that all relief and rescue teams should be fully prepared and ensure timely assistance to the affected people.
He also directed officials to give priority to restoration of essential services including roads, electricity, drinking water and communication networks in case of any disruption. Instructions have also been given for constant monitoring of Char Dham Yatra routes and all major roads.
CM appealed to the people
Chief Minister Dhami appealed to the residents and tourists of Uttarakhand to strictly follow the advisories issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the local administration. He urged people to avoid unnecessary travel in adverse weather conditions and stay away from landslide-prone areas and swollen rivers and streams.
In case of any emergency or inconvenience, people should immediately contact the local administration. The Chief Minister said that the state government is on full alert, and all concerned departments have been put on alert mode to ensure quick and effective response to any emergency.
Water level of rivers normal in Rudraprayag
Meanwhile, light rain and fog were observed in Rudraprayag district this morning. However, the water level of all major rivers including Alaknanda and Mandakini remains within normal limits, said DDMO Rudraprayag Nandan Singh Rajwar.
The District Emergency Operation Center (DEOC) has urged residents to remain alert and report any disaster-related incident to the administration immediately.
Speaking to ANI, DDMO Rudraprayag Rajwar said, “The water levels of the rivers are normal now, but there is a possibility of them rising due to rains; hence, local people and travelers are requested not to go near the river banks unnecessarily.”
As of Sunday morning, Alaknanda river was flowing at 623.40 metres, Mandakini river at 622.39 metres, Ganganagar at 799.25 meters and Gaurikund at 1,973.82 metres. Officials said the levels of all rivers were below their respective warning levels.
The district administration said all major rivers are currently flowing normally. However, in view of the ongoing monsoon, all departments have been directed to remain on high alert and immediately report any natural disaster, road blockage or accident to the District Emergency Operation Centre.
