Contrary to what people thought, return to classic comedy films felt like a bittersweet dream come true. His reunion with Priyadarshan for Bhooth Bangla has already earned over ₹100 crores at the box office.
Their combination worked in the past, and for the most part, it worked in their latest film as well. With how well it has worked previously, the actor is diving back into his comedic side with films like Haiwan, Welcome to the Jungle and more. However, this won’t be the last time we’ll see him working with the Bhool Bhulaiyaa director.
Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan to Work on More Films
“The first film, a comedy, will go on floors in January 2027. Akshay has also come on board as the leading man for , also being directed by Priyadarshan. The team is on the lookout for the second male lead, who will join Akshay in it. Talks for both films had been on for the past two months and it’s only recently that all details have been finalised,” said the source.
Between the first Bhoot Police and the sequel, the director and lead actor are both changing. The previous film was helmed by Pavan Kirpalani, and this one is being taken over by Priyadarshan. Saif Ali Khan is also not coming back.
Taurani had also previously remarked that he will not be collaborating with Khan again, even with Race 4. As per a Bollywood Hungama report, his sudden exit from the film had caused a disarray in the schedule, forcing Taurani to act swiftly in order to replace Saif with Sunny Kaushal.
Moreover, the disappointment that the producer felt despite the many times they had worked together potentially took his motivation away from working with him again. As such, Akshay Kumar has also become the new leading face in Bhoot Police 2.
