Actor Akshay Kumar has paid an emotional tribute to veteran actor Asrani, recalling the experience of working with the legendary performer in his upcoming film Haiwaan.
Akshay described it as his “good fortune” to have worked alongside Asrani and witnessed what he said was the veteran actor’s final-ever shot.
Sharing a heartfelt note on Instagram, Akshay wrote, “My good fortune that I got to work with this legend and see him give his last ever shot in Haiwaan. Miss you Asrani ji…there can be no one like you.”
The video shared by Akshay features a scene from Haiwaan in which Asrani’s character interacts with two police constables. Known for his trademark comic timing, his character turns a routine exchange about his identity and personal life into a humorous conversation.
When asked whether anyone was behind him, he jokingly points out that one constable is behind him while another is standing in front. The conversation then turns to his marital status, with his character humorously claiming to have been married three or four times. Asked about his children, he quips that they are busy fighting among themselves while he is there, adding to the light-hearted tone of the scene.
Asrani, known for his distinctive comic timing and memorable character portrayals, enjoyed a career spanning more than five decades and became one of Hindi cinema’s most recognisable performers.
The veteran actor died on October 20, 2025, at the age of 84. During his illustrious career, he appeared in more than 350 films and entertained generations of audiences with his versatile performances.
Directed by Priyadarshan, Haiwaan marks Asrani’s final film appearance. According to the film’s makers, he shot for the project just five to six days before his death.
Akshay’s tribute has once again highlighted the veteran actor’s enduring contribution to Indian cinema and the affection with which he is remembered by colleagues and audiences alike.
