Keerthy Suresh has been waiting for a solid hit for quite some time, and her latest outing, Akka, could offer her the much-needed relief. The actress earned nationwide recognition with Mahanati, but she has struggled to deliver a film of similar impact in the recent years. Though she has been part of several projects across Telugu, Tamil and Hindi, a strong success has remained elusive. Akka gave Keerthy an opportunity to showcase a different side of her acting. Set against a period backdrop, the Netflix series explores a world dominated by women, power struggles and rivalries.
The story follows two women who are caught in a battle for control, with their own rules and ambitions shaping the events. The narrative has shades of a gangster drama and a political power game, making it different from a regular female-led drama. Radhika Apte plays a key role in the series and brings her experience to the intense narrative. Known for choosing unconventional characters, she adds another layer to the story through her performance. The combination of Keerthy and Radhika is one of the major attractions of Akka. The Netflix original finally offered a relief for Keerthy Suresh.
