SP chief Akhilesh Yadav accused BJP of betrayal of trust and scams in donations. He called it a ‘great sin’. Congress’ Randeep Surjewala has also accused the Ram Mandir Trust of financial irregularities and demanded a discussion in Parliament.
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [भारत]July 30 (ANI): Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday launched a fresh attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies, accusing them of committing a ‘great sin’ by allegedly betraying public trust and religious sentiments. In a statement shared on Twitter, Yadav alleged that the BJP and its allies have undermined Bhakti through alleged irregularities related to donations, secret donations and land transactions involving religious institutions.

“The BJP and its allies are guilty of the grave sin and crime of betrayal of devotion as well as faith,” Yadav said. The SP leader alleged that questions are being raised regarding alleged misuse of donation funds, irregularities in issuing receipts and land deals in Ayodhya. He also accused those in power of failing to ensure accountability and transparency.
Yadav further alleged that the individuals who raised objections were removed and claimed that evidence related to the alleged irregularities was not properly preserved or examined. Calling the issue a question of public trust, the SP chief said it was a “religious duty” to raise the issue of alleged misuse of public funds in Parliament. Yadav said in his post, “Whoever is an ally of BJP is a traitor to Ram and a great sinner.”

Earlier, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala on Thursday gave a formal notice under Rule 267 seeking suspension of the listed business to discuss alleged financial irregularities, embezzlement and looting of donations related to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
In his notice addressed to the Secretary General of the Rajya Sabha, Surjewala urged the Speaker to set aside all pre-scheduled legislative business for an urgent, high-priority debate to establish government accountability. The notice highlights that millions of devotees across the world contributed thousands of crores of rupees through collective, individual and secret donations out of deep religious faith.
“This is because the case of theft of donations, looting and embezzlement of offerings in Shri Ram Mandir is not only a robbery on the faith of lakhs of devotees, but it is also a direct case of plunder, embezzlement and corruption committed by the members and related employees of the Shri Ram Mandir Trust constituted under the orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court,” the notice said.
Surjewala stressed that recent revelations point to open theft, corruption and financial mismanagement under the guise of faith, which amounts to a direct “robbery” on the sentiments of millions of people. He said in the notice, “It has now come to light that under the guise of faith, there has been open theft and plunder in the construction and donation of Ram temple. In the greed to loot the immense wealth of Ramdham, even basic humanity has been destroyed. The self-appointed advocates of faith are trying to save all the ‘big fishes’ by putting forward some ‘small fishes’, so that the looting done in the name of Lord Ram can be suppressed.”
Demand for discussion on purchase of trust land
The notice further said that many aspects of the alleged Ram Temple donation embezzlement have already come to light. One of these aspects is that the purchase of land worth crores of rupees by the Ram Mandir Trust should be discussed in Parliament with top priority. (ANI)
