Akhil Akkineni is on track to achieve a significant overseas milestone with Lenin. The film is now targeting the $1 million mark in North America, a feat Akhil has not achieved since Hello in 2017.
Hello, his second film, ended its theatrical run with more than $1.1 million in North America.
However, every film that followed either underperformed or failed at the box office, bringing Akhil’s strong overseas run to an end.
Now, Lenin has given him another opportunity. The Murali Kishor Abburu-directed revenge drama grossed an estimated $540,000 during its opening weekend in North America.
Despite receiving mixed reviews from several critics and review portals, the film has benefited from positive word of mouth among audiences.

With no major Telugu release posing a serious challenge until Kiran Abbavaram’s Chennai Love Story arrives in theatres, Lenin has a good window to maintain steady collections.
If the film holds well over the coming days, crossing the $1 million milestone is well within reach.
Produced by Nagarjuna Akkineni and Naga Vamsi, Lenin stars Akhil Akkineni and Bhagyashri Borse in the lead roles.
