Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has asked the public sector telecom company BSNL to present customer growth and business plan at the circle level for the current financial year. This information was given in an official statement on Tuesday. The minister met 27 Chief General Managers (CGM) and senior officials of BSNL and directed them to hold a meeting every month.
The statement said, Minister Scindia has instructed the team to meet every month and discuss the best behavior and challenges. He has also asked the team to resolve the challenges of different fields. Scindia has asked every circle to formulate customer growth scheme and business plan for FY 2025-26.
55 lakh customers connected in 9 months
The minister appreciated the BSNL team for making PSU profitable after about 18 years. The company recorded a net profit of Rs 262 crore in the October-December 2024 quarter. He asked the entire team to continue this pace and focus on adding customers for long -term success. In the last 8-9 months, BSNL has added about 55 lakh new customers.
12,000 towers have been installed
BSNL has recently set up 12,000 new 4G towers inside the country. By the end of December 2024, the company has started giving 4G service in almost every state capital besides 4 metro cities of the country. At the same time, the focus of the company is planning to start 4G service in every circle of the country by June 2025. With this, people in those cities of the country will be able to take advantage of cheap 4G plans where their service is not better right now. At the same time, people will have a good option of Jio, Airtel and Vodafone.
