Emphasis on increasing defense cooperation between India and Italy
New Delhi [भारत]June 30 (ANI): In a major step towards expanding bilateral defense cooperation, Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force (Aeronautica Militare) Lieutenant General Antonio Conserva met Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh during his official visit to India.
In this high-level meeting held at the Air Force Headquarters (Vayu Bhawan) in New Delhi on Monday, emphasis was laid on enhancing military-to-military engagement and exploring new avenues for strategic partnership between the two Air Forces.
The visit comes amid continued progress in defense and strategic relations between New Delhi and Rome, especially since the two countries have elevated their relationship to the status of ‘strategic partnership’.
Air Chief Marshal also visited France
Earlier, on June 5, the Air Chief Marshal had completed a three-day official visit to France. The Indian Embassy in France said the visit reaffirmed the strong and enduring partnership between the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the French Air and Space Force (AAEF).
In a post on Twitter, the embassy said the visit underlined the deep defense cooperation between the two air forces. “Chief of the Indian Air Force Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, PVSM AVSM, has completed a three-day official visit to France, reaffirming the deep partnership between the IAF and the French Air and Space Forces (AAEF). The Air Chief held bilateral discussions with General Jerome Belanger, Chief of Staff, Air and Space Forces, at the AAEF Headquarters in Ballard, where he was accorded military honors with a Guard of Honour,” the post said.
The Indian Embassy in France further said, “The Air Chief also met General Vincent Giraud, Chief of Military Staff to the President of the French Republic and addressed other officials including Indian officer cadets at the École de Guerre, École Militaire. The Air Chief also visited the Mont-de-Marsan Air Combat Centre, took an introductory flight in an A-400M aircraft from the Orléans Air Base, and took forward the #MakeInIndia initiative. Met with key defense industry players including Dassault Aviation, Thales, Safran and MBDA.” (ANI)
