After the ongoing political turmoil in Jharkhand for the past several days, Chief Minister Hemant Soren resigned on Wednesday. The Governor has also accepted his resignation. After the resignation of Hemant Soren, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MLA Champai Soren will be made the next Chief Minister of the state. Champai Soren is considered a very powerful and influential leader of Jharkhand. He is also known as Jharkhand Tiger in Jharkhand.
Champai Soren is known as the “Kolhan Tiger” in Jharkhand, especially in the Kolhan region, due to his imposing stature and charismatic personality. His leadership and firebrand politics have given him this powerful nickname. It is believed that Champai holds a lot of influence among the tribal population. He has often raised his voice for the betterment of the tribal society. Champai Soren, popularly known as Jharkhand Tiger, started his political career from Seraikela seat. He had contested elections from this seat as an independent MLA. After which he joined Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.

Champai Soren was considered a good friend and associate of Hemant Soren’s father Shibu Soren. When the demand for a separate Jharkhand state from Bihar was raised, Champai Soren along with Champai’s father Shibu Soren also joined the movement. After which he started being active in many political activities. After which he came to be known as ‘Jharkhand Tiger’.
Has been a minister in BJP
Champai was not only famous among his supporters but he also had good relations with BJP. Champai Soren was made a cabinet minister during the two-year tenure of BJP leader Arjun Munda. At the same time, after Hemant Soren became the Chief Minister again in 2019, Champai Soren was made the Minister of Transport, Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Welfare.
