After Shah Rukh Khan, AR Rahman Thanks Salman Khan For Featuring In Asha Bhosle’s Tribute Music Video

AR Rahman is bringing together some of Indian cinema’s biggest stars and musicians to celebrate the extraordinary legacy of legendary singer Asha Bhosle. After thanking Shah Rukh Khan for agreeing to be part of his tribute music video, the Oscar-winning composer has now expressed gratitude to Salman Khan for joining the special project. Titled Asha Forever, the tribute was conceptualised by Rahman when Asha Bhosle was still alive, with the original intention of presenting it to the legendary singer herself.

AR Rahman took to X to express his gratitude to Salman Khan for featuring in the tribute music video dedicated to Asha Bhosle. Sharing a heartfelt note, the composer wrote, “A heartfelt thank you to dear @BeingSalmanKhan for agreeing to being part of Asha Bhosle ji’s tribute music video. Your affection for Asha ji and your generosity in celebrating her extraordinary legacy make this moment incredibly special.”

Rahman had earlier shared a similar message for SRK, thanking the superstar for kindly agreeing to participate in the project. “A heartfelt thank you to dear  for graciously agreeing to be part of Asha Bhosle ji’s tribute music video,” Rahman wrote. The singer had earlier shared that Kamal Haasan will also be a part of the video.

Following her demise, Rahman decided to continue with the project as a celebration of her extraordinary musical legacy. He recently released a glimpse of the tribute through a teaser and explained the emotions and idea behind bringing the project together.

In his note, Rahman highlighted how musical legends transcend generations, languages and geographical boundaries. He described Asha Bhosle as an artist whose voice became the soundtrack of countless lives and said that the most meaningful tribute was to bring together different musicians, traditions and sounds.

Rahman wrote, “This tribute began as a dream while Asha Bhosle ji was still with us. We had hoped she would witness the love and gratitude this project carries.” He added that the project is his humble offering to Asha ji and expressed hope that her music would continue inspiring audiences for generations.

Asha Bhosle passed away on April 12, 2026, at the age of 92 due to multiple organ failure. Her death marked the loss of one of the most influential voices in Indian music. The legendary singer enjoyed a career spanning several decades and recorded songs across multiple Indian languages. Asha Bhosle was cremated with full state honours at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park Crematorium.
