These days the issue of captaincy has dominated the world of cricket. On one hand, questions are being raised on the captaincy of Rohit Sharma after India lost the Test series at home to New Zealand, while on the other hand, England captain Ben Stokes is also under the scanner after losing to Pakistan. The biggest turmoil is in Pakistan itself, where there has been a change in captaincy for the third time within a year. After the resignation of Babar Azam, now Mohammad Rizwan has been given the command of ODI and T20 team. Pakistan has got a new captain and now soon the same situation will arise in Bangladesh also. Bangladesh’s all-format captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto has announced to step down from the command of the team. In view of this, Bangladeshi team’s experienced bowler Taijul Islam has openly presented his claim.
I have been playing for 10 years, ready for captaincy
Now, whether Shanto continues to be the captain or not, it will become clear in a few days, but amidst all this, left arm spinner Taijul Islam himself has presented his claim. Taijul Islam, who came to the press conference before the second Test match against South Africa, put forward his name on the question of captaincy. Taijul, who has been playing Test cricket for Bangladesh for the last 10 years, denied knowledge of Nazmul’s resignation offer but also said that he is ready to play this role if needed. He said that he has been playing cricket for 10 years and hence he is ready for this responsibility. Taijul has taken more than 200 wickets in Test cricket for Bangladesh.
Shanto wants to leave captaincy
After winning the historic Test series on Pakistan tour just two months ago, Nazmul Hossain Shanto has expressed his desire to step down from the captaincy. After the defeat in the first test match against South Africa, Shanto told about his wish. Shanto has said that he does not want to captain the team after the South Africa series. Only one test match is left in this series. However, no decision has been taken yet on Shanto’s offer because the President of Bangladesh Cricket Board is not in the country at present. A decision on this will be taken only after his return.
Nazmul Hossain was given the captaincy of the Bangladeshi team for the first time last year and this year along with commanding the Test team, he became the captain of all formats. However, since then his performance in batting has not been good and this is also being considered as the reason for his decision. It has been told in a report that Nazmul had made up his mind to leave the captaincy of this format after the T20 World Cup, but then the board officials convinced him not to do so. But now he wants to resign from the captaincy of the team in all three formats. Under the captaincy of Nazmul, Bangladesh won the historic Test series in Pakistan and reached the Super-8 round of the T20 World Cup.
