After fiery sendoff, Ishan Kishan takes a dig at CSK fans with Insta post as SRH reach IPL 2026 playoffs

New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) star Ishan Kishan didn’t hold back as he took a dig at the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans with a social media post after his side’s five-wicket win against the hosts at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, in the IPL 2026 on Monday. SRH defeated CSK comfortably to become the second team to secure a spot in the playoffs this season.

Kishan was the star with the bat for SRH as he slammed a brilliant knock of 70 runs off 47 balls to help his team chase down the target of 181 runs with an over to spare. After SRH’s victory, Kishan was spotted giving a send-off to the CSK fans present inside the stadium. The wicket-keeper mocked the fans by making a whistle gesture before waving his hands, gesturing for them to go back home.

Kishan continued the banter on social media on Tuesday, taking another dig at CSK fans with a post on Instagram. “Only thing louder than the whistles was the bat. Into the playoffs,” Kishan captioned the post, which had several pictures from SRH’s five-wicket win against Chennai Super Kings on Monday.

Ishan Kishan silences Chepauk with terrific knock

Kishan silenced the Chepauk crowd with his terrific knock in SRH’s run chase against the Chennai Super Kings on Monday. The left-hander came out to bat at no.3 after SRH lost opener Travis Head cheaply on 6 in the tricky chase. He made the chase a lop-sided affair with his cracking 70 off 47 deliveries, which was laced with 7 fours and three sixes.

Kishan shared a 38-run stand with Abhishek Sharma (26) for the second wicket, before adding a match-winning 75-run partnership with Heinrich Klaasen (47) for the third wicket to take the game away from the hosts. Thanks to his terrific knock, SRH managed to complete the chase with an over to spare and became the second team after RCB to qualify for the playoffs with 18 points after 13 matches so far in IPL 2026.

The crushing five-wicket defeat hurt CSK’s playoff chances this season as they remain sixth in the IPL 2026 points table with 12 points after 13 matches. CSK are now only mathematically alive in the race for the playoffs as even a win in their final game against the Gujarat Titans won’t confirm their spot in the top four this season.
